About Your TeacherI have been a part of the Brave family since 2012. At TAHS, I've taught Contemporary English Applications, Modern Literature and Composition, 8th grade English, 8th grade Literature, Strategic ELA, 9th grade Literature and Composition, Speech 1, and Theatre 1 & 2.
Before becoming a Brave, I was a Chemic, and then a Chippewa (Fire up Chips!). Most of my life has been spent in the Mid-Michigan area and I graduated from Midland High School. At Central Michigan University I graduated with cum laude honors and received my Bachelors in Secondary Education with a Major in English and Minor in Speech. I also have my Masters of Education degree in Literacy Studies with a secondary reading endorsement, which I obtained through Grand Valley State University. When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and pets. I have three cats: Bubba, Mufasa, and Luna. Also, I enjoy spending my time cooking/baking, traveling, going to plays and musicals, watching movies, listening to Taylor Swift, and of course reading and writing. You can often find me at the library or bookstore browsing for the latest books to read and add to the classroom library. Some of my favorite books include Firekeeper's Daughter, the Harry Potter series, The Night Circus, And Then There Were None, Born a Crime, and A Tale of Two Cities. Some of my favorite authors are Elizabeth Acevedo, Taylor Jenkins Reid, John Green, Sarah Dessen, Jessi Kirby, Jason Reynolds, Leigh Bardugo, Angie Thomas, and Ruta Sepetys. |
